Anna's dinner party philosophy is right in alignment with ours at The Upstate Table: "no matter the size, occasion, or even the food that is served, [every dinner party] is special simply because it brings a group of different people together to share, for a moment, the most basic ritual of life: nourishment."
And that's our goal! To bring together our community to cook, laugh, and eat delicious food!
While we all cook together, Anna will share her many tips for hosting and executing a dinner, including making aioli by hand, demystifying duck breast (and a trick for cooking it almost entirely in advance), pickling red onions, prepping citrus beautifully (slipping in some knife skills), PLUS we'll make two kinds of desserts, both gluten-free.
Her entertaining style is inclusive, festive, and casual, and this workshop will be like a dinner party in her home, with the added bonus of demos and lessons so you can recreate the experience in your own home. Anna may share some of her favorite parlor games too!
So bring a date—your partner, your friend, your mom—and join us, although dates are not mandatory (we just think workshops are a great way to spend time with someone you care about! They're also a wonderful way to meet people too!).
The menu is gluten free. If you have further dietary restrictions, please let us know and we will accommodate including replacing duck with a vegetarian option (please be sure to reach out in advance!). The workshop includes a full dinner party, and drinks. Limited to 12.
Anna Stockwell is a food stylist and editor who was most recently a senior food editor for Epicurious and Bon Appétit. While at Epicurious, Stockwell hosted a popular weekly Instagram story called At Home with Anna. She has also worked at Saveur and has experience cooking in the test kitchens for Every Day with Rachel Ray and Real Simple. She lives in New York's Hudson Valley just a stone's throw from The Upstate Table studio.
