the workshop
Join Alex Shytsman, creator of The New Baguette and Ukrainian immigrant, for a hands-on Ukrainian cooking workshop to benefit humanitarian aid efforts in her home country. Alex and The Upstate Table's Rebecca Ffrench (longtime collaborators and co-authors of The Complete Vegan Cookbook) will lead you in preparing an unforgettable vegetarian feast of varenyky (better known by their Polish name, pierogi) and colorful veggie sides. The workshop includes a full meal, drinks, and a recipe booklet. Limited to 10. All proceeds from the class will go to The World Central Kitchen, an organization is on the frontlines, providing nearly 200,000 hot, nourishing meals every day to families sheltering in the Ukraine as well as refugees in neighboring countries.
Alex Shytsman is a recipe developer, food photographer, and creator of The New Baguette, a plant-based recipe site for people who are curious about incorporating more vegan meals into their lives. She is the co-author of The Complete Vegan Cookbook, a collection of over 150 recipes from Natural Gourmet Institute's 40-year history, and contributes to outlets like The Kitchn and Food52. Her work has also been featured in Cherry Bombe, HuffPost, and Buzzfeed. When she's not cooking or writing about new recipes, she's teaching food photography workshops and vegan cooking classes.
